State of the Market
The
building industry is experiencing increased insurance
premium rates and reduced coverage due to a dramatic
increase in construction defect claims and related
litigation costs. Insurance companies are frightened of the issues facing the
homebuilding community and are no longer providing insurance to residential
builders or they are eliminating critical coverage.
Furthermore, Appellate Courts are ruling that faulty
workmanship is not covered by builders’ general
liability policies.
